BetMGM and PointsBet cleared to launch in Ontario – Online Casino

iGaming Ontario, the subsidiary of the Alcohol and Gaming Commission of Ontario (AGCO), has announced that BetMGM and PointsBet are the latest operators to obtain online gambling licenses in the Canadian province.

BetMGM will operate through in Ontario, while PointsBet will operate through the website.

Each of the licenses will run from the day the market opens until April 3, 2024.

Ontario’s regulated online gaming marketplace will officially launch on April 4, with iGaming Ontario tasked with overseeing all online gaming operations in the province.

Over the past few weeks, iGaming Ontario has issued licenses to a host of operators in preparation for market opening.

These include Bet365, FanDuel, owned by Flutter Entertainment, Unibet and the Ontario Lottery and Gaming Corporation.

Other named licensees include LeoVegas, Rush Street Interactive, Rivalry, theScoreBet, 888, Coolbear and Fitzdares. Annexio Limited will operate under the Lottogo name while NSUS Limited will operate under the WSOP brand.

Additionally, vendor licenses have been issued to companies such as Inspired Entertainment, Play’n Go, and High 5 Games.

Last week, new guidelines from the AGCO warned operators in the process of obtaining a license to cease operations when the province’s igaming market opens next month.

Companies will be required to close all operations in Canada’s largest province, or have their application for registration rejected by the regulator.
